
Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2023 Awards: the hunt is on for Latin America's most innovative young people
Winners of the 2022 Edition of the Innovators Under 35 awards
The publication MIT Technology Review in Spanish and the global innovation consultancy Opinno are calling for the Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2023 (IU35) awards, aimed at young people under 35 in Latin America, who are using science and/or technology in a creative way to tackle humanity’s most pressing problems.
"We are committed to Latin America’s progress and development, a region with businessmen and entrepreneurs whose main focus is to move forward, promoting innovation. With Innovators Under 35 LATAM we seek to decentralize, democratize, encourage and promote the exchange of knowledge and technologies, to attract and give visibility to innovative talent in the region," said Pedro Mateos, Director of MIT TR Innovators Under 35 LATAM.
This year, the 9th edition of the Innovators Under 35 LATAM awards is sponsored by various institutions such as Grupo UNACEM, Repsol, Grupo Intercorp, PwC Peru (PriceWaterhouseCoopers) and Redinter, in addition to collaborating organizations such as Promperu (Peru's Export and Tourism Promotion Commission), ESAN, Jockey Plaza and the newspaper El Comercio as Media Partner.
How can I participate?
Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2023 aims to recognize innovation: the development of new technologies or the creative application of existing science and/or technology to solve problems or add value, with a positive and visible impact on society.
Candidates must have a project or business related to one of the following areas of innovation: biotechnology and medicine; artificial intelligence and robotics; software; energy and sustainability; internet and web; electronics and hardware; transportation; nanotechnology and materials; and telecommunications.
In addition, candidates must comply with the following participation requirements:
- Age: Candidates must be over the age of majority and under 35 years of age (18 to 34 years). They cannot turn 35 during the year 2023.
- Nationality: candidates must register Latin American nationality in their identity document (passport, identity card, foreigner's card, DNI, etc.).
- Creativity: candidates must be creative and use their imagination to solve problems with a fresh perspective. The candidate's approach to the problem and how he/she develops the solution will be evaluated.
- Boldness: Bold candidates with a record of achievements (both lost and won) who demonstrate a spirit of perseverance are encouraged to apply.
- Region where the initiative / solution has an impact: the initiative or solution must have an impact and involve Latin American territory and inhabitants (may or may not match the nationality of the candidate).
- Status of the initiative / solution: the initiative or solution must be established, at an administrative level, at least in the early stage of development, with a fully validated product / service, with a customer / market, with significant sales and ready to receive investment (or have already received it).
- Relevance: We recognize candidates for their current and potential work to become creators of technological trends that transform our societies.
- Impact: the initiative or solution can change the life and work of people or the way organizations perform, with global impact in an area of research.
- Characteristics of the initiative / solution: the initiative or solution must be technology-based, scientific or both and must provide a solution to a specific problem in the social and/or environmental field.
